Basics of Sourdough Bread Baking
This class is available upon request. Contact us for dates and details!
Each online bread class is limited to only 2 participants to ensure ample opportunity to ask questions and receive in-depth instruction.
This 4 hour, hands-on class, hosted on Zoom, will guide you through the fundamentals of baking sourdough bread at home. Part science, part magic, sourdough baking requires patience and practise yet it is the one of the most satisfying ways of spending time in the kitchen. In our life, baking, eating and sharing fresh loaves of homemade bread = joy.
During the class you will learn every step to making a savoury sourdough loaf. We will explore how to build and maintain a starter, how to blend flours, learn about ingredient percentages, discuss variables that affect fermentation, practise hand mixing and shaping techniques, as well as talk about proofing timetables to suit your schedule. Armed with this knowledge, a detailed handout and some sourdough starter, you will be ready to start baking your own sourdough bread at home.
